We’re delighted to be bringing NTOC to Sheffield for the first time, and the conference will once again bring together leading voices from arboriculture, urban forestry, woodland management, and planning to share knowledge, explore emerging challenges, and showcase innovation in the management of trees and green infrastructure.

Proudly hosted by the Association of Tree Officers, Institute of Chartered Foresters, London Tree Officers Association, and the Municipal Tree Officers’ Association, the conference provides a unique platform for local authority tree professionals and the wider sector to connect, learn, and exchange ideas.

National Tree Officers Conference 2026 – Call for Presentations

Building on the success of ten previous events, we’re delighted to announce the National Tree Officers Conference will return on 4 November 2026!

Proudly hosted by the Association of Tree Officers (ATO), Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF), London Tree Officers Association (LTOA) and the Municipal Tree Officers’ Association (MTOA), the conference will take place in Sheffield, Yorkshire.

Developed for tree officers, National Tree Officers Conference 2026 is a great opportunity for tree, woodland and planning professionals to present to their peers on the latest research, best practice and innovation across a range of local authority arboricultural and urban forestry subjects.

We’re looking for presentation proposals relating to the following subject areas:

• Pests and diseases
• Planting and species selection
• Climate change mitigation/increasing resilience
• Planning and development
• Ancient/Veteran Tree management
• Biosecurity
• Emerging technologies (including AI)
• Public/stakeholder engagement
• Trees and the law
• Local authority tree management (including felling procedures, risk assessment and subsidence)
• Use of tree data for management, information and influence
• Extreme weather preparation and response

The above list is not exhaustive – we would welcome any subject of relevance to local authority tree management. Submissions will be reviewed by the conference steering group with quality, relevance, the practical nature of the material and potential audience appeal as key assessment criteria.

Future Climate Suitability Assessment of London's Public Realm Trees

This groundbreaking report provides London-specific future climate suitability scores for over 100 species based on conditions anticipated for 2090 - around 65 years from now - and sets out key recommendations to help us protect the trees that protect us from the impacts of climate change.

Future Climate Suitability Assessment of London’s Public Realm Trees

To make it easier for all partnership members to integrate future climate suitability into planning and management, the Greater London Authority has also published an update to the London Public Realm Tree Map. The prototype version, live today, includes species and location data for over 1.1 million public trees, along with 2090 climate suitability scores. The interface has been enhanced for easier filtering and viewing at different scales. In the coming weeks, we’ll add a more advanced reporting tool and contextual overlays such as canopy cover and Index of Multiple Deprivation data.
